If you want something chic and preppy then mules are definitely a hot pick for this year’s summer footwear trends. It’s a hybrid style which means you get the best of both worlds infusing the pump with a partly or entirely closed front; and the slipper with an open back.

The mules have emerged as a must-have that can take your summer style up a notch. Want to look trendy and feel comfortable for work? Wear your favourite culottes with a boxy and breathable top for a smart edge. Complete your outfit with smart black mules and enjoy kicking them off under your desk to let your feet breathe.

Espadrilles

Espadrilles are the most versatile summer shoe. With options available in every height and for any event, they are here to rescue your feet from pain and blisters. Whether you want to wear them with shorts, trousers or sundresses, they are suitable for running chores, catching lunch with some friends or picking up the kids from school. Snap up some cool styles in lace, floral, stripes or studded designs to suit your fashion personality.

Don’t forget to pack them for your holiday too as they make a simple summer outfit even better. For those dressier occasions, try a wedged heeled espadrille sandal as it provides the perfect mix of comfort and style. With a cushioned underfoot it prepares your feet for a long day and will look fantastic from the beach to the bar.

Strappy Sandals

If you’re looking for shoes that are casual and will allow your feet to breathe then strappy sandals are a great style to add a pretty final touch to any outfit. They are practical for getaways to home summer wardrobe when you team it with a flowy maxi dress, a floral jumpsuit or with skirts and shorts – they’ll look goregous each and every time. You also have the option to tie the rope higher up the leg for a gladiator look. It’s a quick and easy way to switch up a dress down day.

When it comes to choosing the right colour to take on holiday, a gold and tanned tone will glam up more than one outfit.

Sliders

You don’t have to be beside a pool or a beach to wear these sandals. In fact, they’re perfect for stylish lounging, running errands or going out shopping. Team them with jogging bottoms or sleek trousers, an oversized t-shirt, relaxed blazer or your open autumn knit for an easy and breezy look.

Or if you rather express your femininity but keep it cool at the same time, try them with your midi dress, skirt or floaty maxi dress that look effortless for a lighter feel. Sliders can be packed for your holiday as a beachwear option and be functional for all your outdoor pursuits.

Block Heels

As promised, here’s a selfie of yesterday’s flatlay. I received a lot of comments about these block-heeled denim sandals from Target, an incredible deal at $30. I said they were a personal “game-changer,” yet I neglected to say why. As some of you know, I don’t wear heels. Ever. But I’ve made an exception for these shoes because they feature cork heels and an ankle strap. Stability, comfort and style…you can’t beat that. By the way, I’ve tried them on with my skinniest of skinny jeans, and they look fine. But I actually like them better with this JCrew pair that are a more relaxed fit. They’d also look great with cropped flares, or a skirt or dress. (I’d certainly wear them with the only dress I currently own.) I also received a number of comments about wearing the Madewell bell-sleeved shirt as a cropped jacket. It’s wonderful when you find a piece that does double duty, and this lovely shirt certainly does just that. I hope you have a great Wednesday, my lovelies! You can’t go wrong with block heels. They’re a hero piece for summer wardrobes and functional for just about every occasion. That’s why it’s no surprise we treat block heels like our winter ankle boots– they go with everything!

They will give you just enough lift to elongate your legs and offer stability and comfort for those busy work days and unexpected dinner or drink dates. They look great with summer dresses, frilly tops and mom jeans and transition from day to night looks effortlessly.

Opt for a neutral colour as it makes an ideal ‘go with anything’ option. Or if you want to keep it safe, black doesn’t have to be boring. Go for a tie detail to give them a feminine twist.

Make sure you’re putting your best foot forward with one of these trendy summer sandals. Head over to George to find a style that’s comfortable and flattering with all your summer outfits.
