5 Day Workwear Look Book

Whether you like your out of the office look to be part feminine part boyishly oversized, you can shake up your 9-5 and embrace this season’s relaxed approach to your work wardrobe. Life & Style presents five looks you can get away with in the office when pairing it with something casual.

Monday – Ultra Blackworkwear

No one wants to leave the warmth of their beds on an early Monday morning. It’s the first day back from your fun weekend so you’ll want to look and feel refreshed to start the week off in high spirits.

It’s good to give yourself extra time in the morning if you haven’t got your outfit ready the night before. To keep it simple and appropriate a monochrome never fails to fit the smart workwear dress code. A pretty sheer blouse tucked into your midi skirt or slim leg formal trousers form an ideal look. It’s slick, neat and looks like you’ve made an effort.

Otherwise a bright coloured blouse in a printed design is snappy, shows you’re bold and ready to have a colourful day no matter what life throws at you.

Tuesday – Sophisticated and Classic

You still have a long week ahead and can’t quite break out the casual dress code yet. With lots of meetings and presentations going on, you’re fueled to hit the ground running and that is reflected in your style.

Work dresses are a classic look that can be teamed with a tailored blazer and court shoes. The cut of the suit jacket will naturally broaden the shoulders which will give the illusion of a cinched in waistline. You could wear a thin coloured belt to break up the proportions if the colours are too solid.

Since the weather is chilly you will want to wear it with thick opaque tights without having to sacrifice your fashion sense. Add a splash of colour and wrap a light tie scarf around your neck for a touch of class and sophistication.

 Wednesday – Relaxed Smart Wear

casual work wear

You’re half way through the week and can already hear the weekend calling you. If you feel like you’re running out of outfits, we all need a basic look that can be transformed for days like this.

A floaty oversized blouse or shirt offers relaxed fit and style. You can dress it up with accessories like a drop pendant necklace or a choker style that fits in nicely under the collar. Wear it with a waist tie crepe trousers. This is a firm favourite in your formal wardrobe that can be transformed throughout the week with different tops and blouses. It’s loose and made of soft fabric so you’ll be slipping into this easily for comfort all day long.

Thursday – Tomboy and Chic

Thursday is the new Friday so why not pick something that’s tomboy chilled and chic. Pinstriped trousers teamed with a turtleneck and shirt underneath looks super cool and boyish. It’s acceptable for work even though you’re in a laidback mood. Team it with flat shoes, you may even be able to get away with black plimsolls, but keep a black or nude pair of heels under your desk in case you have a last minute meeting to attend.

Friday – Dress Down

It’s Fri-yay! The working week is finally over and you’re already planning your nights out with the girls. Most corporate companies have a thing called dress down Friday. If this applies to you then go on and slip on whatever you feel like in the morning.

Otherwise, it’s simple to dress down your smart wear. Midi work dresses are a corporate favourite but can be worn with simple plimsolls so you can give your feet a rest from high heels. Don’t forget to carry them in your bag though because at the end of the day you’ll be ruffling your hair and applying your favourite lippy to have some fun in the night.

Don’t limit your work wardrobe. Kick start your week in good spirit and head over to George where you can find a few key pieces that can be rotated for casual and work wear.
