5 Tips To Naturally Maintain A Holiday Tan

You’ve just touched down from your holiday and luckily the British weather is making everyone smile with plenty of sunshine. It’s the perfect time to keep that post-holiday glow alive for all the outdoor occasions you have planned this summer. Whether it’s enjoying lunches in the park, barbecues or birthday parties in your back garden don’t let your fading tan end the lovely holiday feeling.

Life and Style will share the golden rules on how to naturally prolong your holiday tan so you can look and feel your best when you return home.

1. Moisturise Daily

One of the first signs of a fading tan is when you start to peel, which means that you’re not moisturising enough. If there is one thing you need to do a lot of it’s oil, cream or moisturise your entire body twice a day. This is by far one of the most important things you need to do to enjoy your holiday tan for longer. You can reapply your moisturiser more than you usually would which will help slow down the peeling stage and lock in the oils to keep you skin well hydrated. To really get that holiday feeling to linger try a tropical scented one that will make you smell like you’re on the beach.

2. Take Cool Showers

Taking long hot baths and showers can really dehydrate your skin which means you are more likely to peel. Take cool showers instead and use a shower cream or oil rather than your usual gel or foam body wash. This will keep your body clean as well as intensely moisturise you at the same time.

3. Exfoliate

To get a great colour all over, you should consider a vigorous body scrub before you jet off on holiday. Don’t be afraid to exfoliate when you return, it won’t scrub off your tan! If anything, a weekly exfoliation will help remove dead skin cells and brighten up your complexion. Try it at home with a rock salt and honey mix that should revitalise your body.

4. Drink Water

There are many health benefits to drinking water that help keep the body hydrated, with the added bonus of no carbs, fat or sugar. Experts recommend that your daily intake should be at least 2 liters of water or roughly 8-10 glasses a day. So if you haven’t been hitting your daily target, then wanting to keep your tan for longer is a good reason to start now.  You need to feed your body from the inside to see the benefits work on the outside.

5. Wear White

Wearing light colours is a tried and tested trick that will make your tan stand out and give the illusion of a fresh holiday glow. You can still make use of all your holiday clothes when you mix and match it with your home wardrobe. Try a pretty bardot top like these summery styles from George. Not only will it show off the neckline but it will look gorgeous when it’s teamed with white jeans and summer sandals.

Don’t pack your holiday dresses away just yet, switch up the white with statement dresses in tropical and floral prints. They’re perfect for the summer party season for all those barbecues and park days you have planned with family and friends.
