Behind The Scenes Of The George Home

As a work-at-home-mum I’ll often find myself chasing a toddler around while pretending to be a hungry dinosaur one minute, and the next I’ll be lost somewhere inside a excel spreadsheet wishing I could be a hungry dinosaur again!

A big part of being an effective work-at-home-mum is feeling comfortable in your surroundings. So when the lovely people at Asda invited my family and I to stay the night in the ‘George home’ in North London, and have a sneak peek at their new homewares range, I knew it would be rather splendid.

Having already been impressed by homeware pieces from George.com in the past, I knew it wouldn’t disappoint.

Fancy popping in for a cuppa and having a nosey around with me and Grayson? Go on, I know you want to!

Let’s start with the living area. I was greeted by an abundance of textiles, lighting and plants; all the little touches that make a house feel like a home. It had a very cosy feel, and the little bursts of colour here and there really brought the room to life.

My eyes were immediately drawn to this stunning velvet effect armchair; I spent a few moments daydreaming about curling up on it to read a book, but then a nearby crashing sound and a missing toddler quickly snapped me back to reality!

The charcoal grey sofa was adorned with scatter cushions in playful prints and knitted throws to cosy up with.

This little corner was one of my favourites in the house and featured some soft, welcoming faux flowers and our first little splash of copper. I find lamps and lighting have such a transformative power over a room – this is probably why we have several thousand in each room at home, and it takes at least 2 weeks to turn them all off each night!

Gracie and I settled ourselves on the window seat amongst the scatter cushions for a quick storytelling session.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home and George home’s kitchen space certainly echoed this. The kitchenware is just so quaint; it has a country feel but with a wonderful modern twist.

You show me something mint green and I’ll show you my purse! The same goes for Rose gold and succulent plants, obviously.

As I wandered up the staircase, I was greeted by yet another rose gold beauty, and this one had me at hello…

Grayson soon found his way into the children’s rooms and made himself right at home up on the top bunk in the boy’s bedroom…

He almost fell off due to all the excitement of the colours, dinosaurs and fire engines in there!

He even managed to find more toys in the nursery…

Finally, there were yet more beautiful faux flowers and copper splashes to be found in the adult’s bedroom too.

So there you have it, I hope you enjoyed our little tour. There are certainly some lovely pieces in the new range, beautiful yet practical for families, just perfect. In fact, we loved some of the pieces so much that we even took a few bits home with us. The chunky knit pouffe and that rose gold lamp found themselves in the boot of our car the next morning!

What are your favourite pieces from the new George Home collection? Explore the range in more detail with our 360 degree video. Make sure you move your cursor to get a full view of each room and don’t forget to enter the competition on Facebook
