Cardigans vs Jumpers: For Colder Days

Ladies, because the temperature is dropping it doesn’t mean your style has to go into hibernation. We all love the colder months as it’s a great time to snuggle up in our winter warmers. Whether you’re on school run or out shopping for the day, women’s jumpers are a wardrobe staple piece that makes a comeback whenever it starts to get nippy.

To make sure your knitwear game is strong, we’ve teamed up with the gorgeous Fashernably Late blogger, Sabina Sher on how to embrace the jumpers and cardigans season.

The Open Style Cardigans

Oversized Aztec Cardigan

Oversized Aztec cardigans are huge in the summer and winter. It’s a versatile piece that can quickly jazz up your outfit as the print makes a bold statement in itself. The openness adds fluidity for an easy street style look or a summer boho vibe. Wear it with skinny jeans to slim down and lengthen the legs as the bulkiness could appear heavy.

But who’s to say you can’t get away with it in winter? Sabina says, ‘Being able to wear what is a socially acceptable blanket outdoors is always going to be a winner with me.’ There’s a lot of room for creativity, literally, so be brave and wear it with a sweater jumper or with a polo neck underneath for extra warmth. Plus, knits over knits are a new thing and so in trend.

Wear Your Cardigans Solo

Grey Cardigan

We all know that cardigans give off a prim and proper look. But you’ll be glad to know they have emerged as one of the most versatile pieces this winter. A slim fit cut can be worn alone as a top, and by choosing neutral colours like grey and black, add sophisticated statements to an outfit.

This simple grey cardigan is the perfect thing to pop on over your outfits. Wear it with a smart pencil skirt for work, dress it down with jeans and a tee on the weekend, or wear a laced camisole for a sweet touch. It’s practical, it’s light and a great transitional piece for whatever the temperature and occasion.

Sabina says, ‘I do love the functionality of wearing a cardigan and the fact it doesn’t ruin my messy bun that I’ve spent 20 mins trying to perfect.

The Rollneck Jumper

Roll neck jumpers are this season’s biggest knitwear trend. Keep it simple by going for a boxed shape as it’s more versatile and lends itself to every occasion from chilled out weekends, to fancy nights out to eat. But don’t forget to keep it fun with different textures such as denim dresses, skirts or skinny jeans as it will instantly upgrade your look.

Blogger Sabina says. “One of my main loves for heading into the colder months is being able to dig out my fair isle prints & oversized cable knit jumpers to layer over my favourite distressed denim pieces – a simplistic go-to amongst many.’
