Create Your Favourite Off-Duty Look For £35

After what seems like the longest winter ever, I am happily pushing my collection of heavy, chunky knits to the back of the wardrobe in favour of comfortable, lightweight, off-duty look this spring. It’s all too tempting to consider off-duty as ‘it’s-the-weekend-so-lets-slob-out-in-our-joggers-and-sweatshirt’ but that doesn’t have to be the case. I’ve discovered so many lovely clothes on the George at ASDA website that look smart and appear to be as equally as comfy as sweatpants.

For this look, I wanted to go for something that didn’t feel restricting. I wanted to pick something with a loose fit. Having a petite frame means it’s often difficult to wear baggy, loose-fitted clothing that doesn’t make you look like a child who has been dressed by their Mum. It’s a balancing act and I think I’ve nailed my go-to look for my Spring weekends!

I chose three key items from George at Asda to create my favourite off-duty look for under £35.

Printed Trousers

There are so many printed trousers to choose from, or as George calls them – lounge Pants. Perfect! Just the kind of thing I’m looking for, and they come in all kinds of cuts too. They’ve got wide legged, skinny, and cropped.

After struggling to make a decision, I finally settled for a pair in a black and white print. They’re trendy, but more importantly, they are a simple pair of trousers that I can throw on effortlessly without having to think too hard about what to style it with!

Initially, I chose a white linen shirt (which had ‘off-duty’ written all over it!) but it was too baggy for me to wear with the trousers. Baggy trousers plus a baggy shirt is a total no-no. What was supposed to be two comfortable items of clothing actually ended up looking extremely awkward as an outfit. It did nothing for my figure.

Therefore, I swapped the linen shirt with a fitted white T-shirt that’s made from stretchy material. I wanted to keep it simple on the top and let the printed trousers become the statement piece.

An outfit is not complete without accessories. I made a beeline for a floral backpack at first but that would have taken the outfit from ‘off-duty ‘to ‘gap year’ – not exactly the look I was going for. Instead, I opted for a chic white handbag, which made a big difference as to the outfit’s overall look.

The white handbag is just the perfect size for me to carry all of my daily essentials in, plus a few extra items such as a scarf and an umbrella – two of my must-have accessories. Well, we are in England after all!
