How to Make Your Home Cosy This Season

Emma Martin is a home & lifestyle blogger at www.lifeatthelittlewood.co.uk, mummy of 3 and lover of frozen cocktails and fashion.

With the cooler weather and changing colours at this time of year, most of us are thinking about making our homes cosy for the new season.  Autumn and winter definitely mean more time spent inside, long fireside afternoons and evenings spent swaddled in comfy layers.
This year, George have us covered, and their beautiful new ranges ensure that our rooms are havens from the cold. Relax, wrap up and rest with these top picks to make your home into the ultimate sanctuary.

Living Room

Light the lamps
George have such an eclectic mix of candles and lanterns to dress even the gloomiest corners of your living space. During these dark evenings we could all do with a little more light in our lives, couldn’t we?  Light them during the early evening, and enjoy the glow right through until bedtime.

Wrap up and rest
Create a cosy corner to unwind in, with the softest cushions and blankets. Somewhere to spend a frosty afternoon, wrapped up with your favourite book or magazine. Mix the cable knit Sherpa blanket with cushions in natural colours for a soothing look.

Cable knits and muted tones

Choose an unconventional colour palette this autumn, with softer shades and textures. Cord and woven knits in soothing shades will calm your living space, and your tired mind. Add the finishing touch to your cosy space with an antiqued square lamp that will look just as good come spring time.

Set the scene

Make a little seasonal display the centre of your space. These items combine the best of Nature’s finds, like copper and wood, and look homely arranged on a coffee or side table. Try mixing animal ornaments in with cream candles for a homely look.

Kitchen

Dress it up

Make dinner parties and family gatherings reflect the spirit of harvest. Lay your best crockery alongside pretty cutlery, garden cuttings and scented candles. Gather up and gather in, for a season of sharing and feasting together.

Bedroom

‘Baby, it’s Cold Outside’

Make bedtimes all the sweeter with layers of blankets, the softest furs (we love the wolf faux fur), fresh bedlinen and twinkly lights. For the best night’s sleep, create a peaceful, restful space.

Bedrooms for the Littles

In the woodland…

Embrace autumnal colours and the sweetest woodland friends in your little one’s room. They’ll love them just as much as you do! Add some ‘grown-up’ throws and cushions to animal duvet sets for a bouncy softness. And don’t forget an animal-shaped cushion or two.

Neat as a pin…

The fluffiest white towels and plenty of gorgeous storage will keep your bathroom ship-shape. We love the industrial look of these baskets, offset against white towels and tiles.
