We tasked eight mummy bloggers to pick matching party clothes for them
and their daughters from the George range

Birthday parties aren’t just gatherings for the little ones. It’s also time for the mums to catch up over coffee while they wait for the kids to run all that sugar out of their systems. And whether your child is the birthday girl or is a guest at someone else’s party, neither of you want to show up looking anything but your best.

We approached eight bloggers and set them and their daughters a challenge to co-ordinate their summer party outfits without breaking the bank. We’re hugely impressed with their efforts.

“This was a really fun challenge, as we had to find something we would definitely
wear for a party but also finding something that would match too. We decided on a
top each that we could pair with a skirt, leggings or jeans. My daughter chose hers
first. It was a crochet collar floral print top. I loved the colour of my top as soon as I
saw it, I love lilac, purple and pink.”

“According to none other than Vogue (yes, we took our research that seriously),
denim is a huge trend for 2016. With this in mind, Heidi and I decided to opt for
denim dresses.”

“I got two matching dresses for the girls in light denim, which is perfect for an Irish
summer spent at parties, picnics and parks. For me, this is my first summer spent in
maternity clothes, so I was only too happy to spend it in dresses. They are most
certainly the easiest thing to wear when you’re running
around after two busy ladies.”

“My dress is a flattering A-line black and white stripe. It’s nice and light for the
summer and comfortable to wear. My shoes are a suede black wedge. Phoebe’s
dress has buttons, a chiffon outer layer which is black with white hearts and a
black under layer. It’s formal enough to wear to a wedding or party, but flexible
enough to play in.”

“We needed to have a theme for the three of us and of course it was always
going to include dresses. After scanning through the range, we decided to go for
a floral theme. Alice choose this gorgeous shirt style dress with a pretty sparkly
belt. Having never brought children’s clothes from George before I was really
impressed. For Holly, we choose a beautiful floral dress. I just love this
colour and the pleat detail at the neckline. I went for a floral print
cold shoulder style dress.”

“We wanted to choose something colourful and with lots of life! Sienna’s outfit was
so cute. We got a Crochet Hem Floral Print Dress. The colours look amazing on
Sienna as it brightens up her beautiful blue eyes! I wore a Patchwork Maxi Dress
with a split hem. I absolutely love this dress – it is the perfect summer dress that
you can wear for different occasions and the split hem made it even sexier!”

“I’m kind of obsessed with dungarees at the moment, and I’ve always loved them
on Ava and kids in general. Maybe it stems from me being dressed in my boy
cousins’ hand-me-down dungarees when I was little, way before dungarees were
at all cool. I’m so glad they are still in style this year. They’re so easy to wear, can
be dressed up or down, and look pretty cool.”

“I picked a denim dress from the maternity range and some gladiator sandals for
myself. The gremlin got the rest. She really liked a lighter denim dress with stars
all over, which we used for the pictures. She was almost wetting herself with
excitement when we unwrapped the parcel.”
