Sure, it’s April and it may seem a long way off now, but your summer holiday will swing round very quickly (HALLELUJAH!). And because of that, we’ve gone and rounded up some of the sunny season’s hottest beachwear already.
Summer 2016’s style is brimming with vibrant hues, ethnic patterns and retro-style swimwear, so prepare to dazzle poolside with tropical flower dresses, polka dot bikinis, Indian-inspired kaftans and bold bandeau swimsuits. It will be the season to splash the colour and make a statement with prints so why not start stocking your wardrobe with psychedelic swimwear now?
A fail-safe black bikini might be your go-to when it comes to swimwear, but this summer it’s time to be a little more daring. No, we’re not suggesting you sport an itsy bitsy, teeny-weeny bikini but we are suggesting you opt for a fun polka dot, ethnic paisley or feminine floral print instead. And it’s not just the pattern you can experiment with this summer, at George we’ve got a variety of beach-ready bikinis to suit all figures. Our favourite cut, inspired by beachwear from the 40s and 50s, is a structured halter-neck bikini top made to flatter any sized chest and a pair of high-waisted or high-rise bottoms.
Tropical Tankinis and Swimsuits
If wearing a bikini instils you with a sense of fear and trepidation, then take the tankini or swimsuit route instead. However, being less daring flesh-wise does not mean you need to be less daring colour-wise. At George this summer, we’ve got swimsuits and tankinis in a rainbow of colours (from neon orange to royal blue) and in a plethora of designs (from graduating ombre to Aztec print), with some of our firm favourites being the white and peach naval striped tankini above, which is perfect for a hard day *ahem* lounging at the pool, and the Bodysculpt paisley bandeau all-in-one below, which smooths the tummy, holds it shape and is ideal for wearing when playing on the beach with the kids.
For when the sun goes down or simply gets too much, don’t forget to pack a kaftan in your beach bag. Stylish, airy and seriously comfortable, keep your kaftan colourful to avoid absorbing the sun’s rays – dark coloured fabric absorbs sunlight making you feel hotter whilst light, bright colours reflect sunlight and are cooler. Tying in with our vibrant swimwear collection this summertime, at George you can find detailed and delicately designed Indian-inspired kaftans and cover-ups, block colour kaftans and light sundresses with a nautical theme to match our stripy swim sets, as mentioned above.
