Two pregnancy outfits

The Easy Maternity Wardrobe

Liza blogs at on all things beauty, fashion and pregnancy-related. She’s currently 21 weeks pregnant with baby boy number two. She lives with her first little boy, who is almost three, and her husband in a lovely small town by the seaside in Devon.

From that moment you find out you’re pregnant, one of the things you think about is the forever-growing belly. Whether you show from an early stage or whether your bump takes a while to pop, it’s so important to feel confident and comfortable in your new body and embrace your new look.

I’m currently pregnant with baby number two and I have taken a few essential tips this time round from my last pregnancy that have really helped me with my maternity style.

Being pregnant doesn’t mean you have to dress frumpy, and it certainly doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot either.

So today I’m going to share with you my top tips on creating that maternity capsule wardrobe.

I don’t know about you, but pre-pregnancy I always had that favourite pair of jeans that I would wear with practically everything. Well, you can have them even when pregnant.

I’d suggest investing in a nice comfortable pair of jeans that are going to last you throughout your pregnancy. I find dark denim jeans to be most wearable and super easy to take from day to night.

If you’re not quite at the stage where you need pregnancy jeans just yet, and you are lucky enough to still fit into your jeans, then investing in a bump band is smart. And in case you need to do the hairband trick and want to hide that un-popped button, it will also give bump a little more support and comfort.

I always like to keep my outfits pretty simple, I’m rather boring really. But I do like to jazz things up with different shoes and accessories.

A girl can never have too many shoes, right? And the most fab thing is you don’t have to buy ‘pregnancy shoes’ as luckily your tootsies shouldn’t change too much.

Some other useful items you could introduce from your own wardrobe are oversized T-shirts, cardigans and jackets. Oversized is very in fashion right now and if you aren’t a fan of huge baggy tops or coats then add a waist belt to nip things in and show off that gorgeous bump!

Finally you don’t always have to look uber glam. We all like to dress down when we are at home, so I really love wearing simple black maternity leggings, a nice black top and I’m good to go.

It’s always clever to invest in a couple of two-pack maternity tops because they’re such great value!

Value is the name of the game with George’s maternity wear, so pick up your baby bump-ready trousers, tops and – yes! – swimwear from the range.
